VAM Realities project successfully completed

The end of the year marks the completion of the VAM Realities. The project kick-off back in January 2020 in an aim to provide higher education institutions with skills to guide SMEs into the adoption of VR and AR technologies and the integration of these technologies into their business operations.

In its 16 months of implementation the project has developed a suite of resources for higher education institutions, which include:

  • the VAM Realities State of the Art XR Technology Report: State of the Art Report that provides an overview of the most important and efficient VR/AR/MR technologies currently available to companies and what kind of hardware and software is successfully used in the various industries.
  • the VAM Realities European Survey Report: The report highlights the findings from a Pan-European Survey with 300 SMEs aiming to map the knowledge and needs of companies in regard to XR technology and how they are already benefiting from these technologies.
  • the VAM Realities platform: an online platform offering unique networking opportunities within the field of XR technologies. The platform hosts the VAM Realities Network, an online repository of more than 350 registered XR experts and XR enthusiasts from Europe and the whole world. The platform also hosts the EU XR projects showcase, where you can get access to more than 40 EU-funded XR-related projects from all around Europe.
  • the SME Online Skills Gap Detector: an online self-assessment tool that allows companies/SMEs to find out how well prepared they are – or not – for the increasing importance of VR/AR/MR in their industries.
  • the VAM Realities University Business Cooperation Handbook: a practical handbook which addresses how Higher Education Institutes can support manufacturing SMEs to adopt and integrate XR technologies successfully into their business operations.

Protection of religious monuments and places of worship

Securing places of worship and large gatherings of believers from terrorist attacks was the focus of an event organised by the Cyprus Police and CARDET. The event was organised in the framework of the European Project Prosperes (Protection System for large gatherings of people in Religious Sites) and was attended by security experts and academics from Cyprus and abroad, as well as religious leaders and members of diplomatic missions.

In the framework of the event, representatives from Cyprus Police and experts from abroad presented their experiences and effective practices followed in Cyprus and internationally for the protection of religious monuments and large gatherings in places of worship. In addition, an exchange of views and suggestions on the existing challenges and issues that need to be addressed regarding the protection of religious monuments and religious events in Cyprus was carried out. In particular, the workshop was attended by representatives of police authorities, research organisations and universities from Cyprus, Poland, Greece, Greece, Slovakia, Finland and the Netherlands.

The European ProSPeReS project aims to increase the level of protection in religious places of worship by promoting cooperation between experts, security bodies and religious authorities. In addition, it promotes the design and implementation of a holistic programme of training and awareness-raising of stakeholders to enhance the protection and security of places of worship and religious events against terrorist attacks.

Διαγωνισμός φωτογραφίας για την κλιματική αλλαγή και το περιβάλλον: Capture It – Act on It

Με τη δική σας συμβολή και συνεισφορά θέλουμε να διαμορφώσουμε ένα μωσαϊκό παρουσιάζοντας τις διάφορες εκφάνσεις και επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής στην καθημερινότητα και το μέλλον του πλανήτη μας για ενημέρωση, αλλά κυρίως ως ένα κάλεσμα για δράση. Πέρα από το ζήτημα της κλιματικής αλλαγής θα θέλαμε να αναδείξουμε το πλούσιο και ξεχωριστό περιβάλλον της χώρας μας, σε μια προσπάθεια ευαισθητοποίησης για την προστασία του. Για το λόγο αυτό θα γίνονται δεκτές και φωτογραφίες που σχετίζονται με το περιβάλλον. Πέρα από τέσσερα βραβεία που θα δοθούν, θα απονεμηθούν και αναμνηστικά διπλώματα συμμετοχής σε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες/ουσες.

Τα βραβεία του διαγωνισμού είναι:

  • 1ο Βραβείο: Ένα ταξίδι study visit για την κλιματική αλλαγή με πλήρως καλυμμένα τα μεταφορικά, διατροφή και διαμονή σε Ευρωπαϊκή Χώρα
  • 2ο Βραβείο: Δωροκουπόνι Public αξίας 200 Ευρώ
  • 3 ο Βραβείο: Δωροκουπόνι Public αξίας 150 Ευρώ
  • 4ο Βραβείο: Δωροκουπόνι Get Out αξίας 100 Ευρώ

Όλες οι φωτογραφίες που θα συλλεγούν θα παρουσιαστούν σε έκθεση φωτογραφίας που θα διοργανωθεί στη Λευκωσία τους επόμενους μήνες.

Όροι και Προϋποθέσεις:

Δικαίωμα Συμμετοχής:

Μπορείτε να λάβετε μέρος στο διαγωνισμό με δύο τρόπους:

  • Να στείλετε τη/ις φωτογραφία/ες σας στο nikolas.athinis@cardet.org με τίτλο «Διαγωνισμός Φωτογραφίας για την Κλιματική Αλλαγή» και τα στοιχεία του φωτογράφου, όνομα, επίθετο και στοιχεία επικοινωνίας
  • Να τη/ις αναρτήσετε στο λογαριασμό σας στο Instagram κάνοντας tag το @cardetngo και χρησιμοποιώντας το hashtag #ActNow (απαραίτητο ο λογαριασμός σας να είναι ανοικτός)

Οι διαγωνιζόμενοι μπορούν να λάβουν μέρος με μια ή και περισσότερες φωτογραφίες

Κανονισμοί:

  1. Ο διαγωνισμός είναι χωρίς κόστος συμμετοχής
  2. Οι φωτογραφίες πρέπει να είναι σε ψηφιακή μορφή jpg σε ανάλυση 300dpi, η μεγαλύτερη πλευρά να είναι 3000 pixels, με ελάχιστο μέγεθος αρχείου 2 MB και μέγιστο 6 MB. Το χρωματικό προφίλ να είναι sRGB.
  3. Δεν θα γίνονται αποδεκτές φωτογραφίες που θα έχουν τίτλο «Άτιτλο». Οι τίτλοι θα πρέπει να γράφονται, με Eλληνικούς χαρακτήρες σε Eλληνικούς τίτλους ή Αγγλικούς χαρακτήρες σε Αγγλικούς τίτλους.
  4. Η κάθε φωτογραφία θα έχει τίτλο την θεματική της πχ Θάλασσα, Σκουπίδια κτλ
  5. Ο φωτογράφος πρέπει να είναι ο πνευματικός δημιουργός των έργων που θα υποβάλει και θα φέρει την ευθύνη για πρόσωπα που εικονίζονται.
  6. Η φωτογραφία δεν θα πρέπει να έχει βραβευθεί από άλλο διαγωνισμό
  7. Τελευταία ημερομηνία παράδοσης των συμμετοχών είναι η 31 Ιανουαρίου 2023.
  8. Η κρίση θα γίνει από ανεξάρτητη κριτική επιτροπή η οποία θα βαθμολογήσει όλες τις φωτογραφίες με ειδικό ηλεκτρονικό σύστημα βαθμολόγησης. Θα δοθούν βραβευτούν οι 4ις πρώτοι νικητές με την καλύτερη βαθμολογία
  9. Σε περίπτωση ισοψηφίας, την τελική απόφαση θα λάβει η Κριτική Επιτροπή της οποίας η απόφαση είναι οριστική και αμετάκλητη.
  10. Θα επιδοθούν αναμνηστικά διπλώματα σε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες ανεξαρτήτως τελικής θέσης
  11. Oι διοργανωτές θα έχουν το δικαίωμα να χρησιμοποιήσουν οποιαδήποτε από τις φωτογραφίες που θα υποβληθούν, σε οποιαδήποτε δραστηριότητα τους, με ονομαστική αναφορά στο φωτογράφο.
  12. Η υποβολή φωτογραφιών στο διαγωνισμό θα σημαίνει αποδοχή όλων των όρων και μη συμμόρφωση με οποιοδήποτε από τους πιο πάνω κανονισμούς θα συνεπάγεται με αποκλεισμό από τον διαγωνισμό.
  13. Τα βραβεία είναι τελεσίδικα και δεν επιτρέπεται η ανταλλαγή μεταξύ τους
  14. Η απονομή των βραβείων θα διεξαχθεί στην Λευκωσία (η τελική ημερομηνία θα ανακοινωθεί σύντομα)
  15. Οι φωτογραφίες θα τυπωθούν με έξοδα του διοργανωτή και θα εκτεθούν την ημέρα της απονομής
  16. Τα αποτελέσματα θα ανακοινωθούν μέσω της ιστοσελίδας https://www.cardet.org/ και του Facebook https://www.facebook.com/CARDETngo/. Οι νικητές θα λάβουν και προσωπική ενημέρωση.
  17. Σε περίπτωση που οι φωτογραφίες απεικονίζουν πρόσωπα εν αγνοία τους ή χωρίς την έγκριση τους, την ευθύνη φέρει αποκλειστικά ο φωτογράφος στον οποίο ανήκει το έργο και όχι ο οργανισμός CARDET

  1. Η συνάφεια των φωτογραφιών με το θέμα
  2. Η καλλιτεχνική και αισθητική ποιότητα των φωτογραφιών
  3. Η σύνθεση της φωτογραφίας
  4. Το μήνυμα της φωτογραφίας

Cyprus Education Summit 2022: Investing in teachers’ professional learning and wellbeing

These key messages, as well as the existing challenges and perspectives for the Professional Learning of teachers in the Cypriot education system, were the focus of the Cyprus Education Summit 2022, which took place at the University of Nicosia. The conference was organised by the Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, CARDET and the Cyprus Institute of Development, with the participation of experts, academics and researchers in the field of education, as well as teachers.

As stressed by the speakers of the conference, it is extremely important to devote more time, through structured programmes focusing on existing needs, within the school for the effective training of teachers. The conference also highlighted the importance and benefits of interaction between teachers and their active engagement in the dialogue to shape approaches and programmes for their training and support.

At the same time, it became clear that the mental resilience and well-being of teachers should be a key dimension of the School Improvement Plan and the educational system in general, so that teachers are able to effectively manage the challenges of the profession and can respond more effectively to their role. This also requires multidimensional actions and systemic approaches involving teachers, parents and children. Indeed, a central objective should also be to expand the role of schools, which should not only function as places that only provide knowledge, but as institutions that nurture and strengthen the character of children, promoting the well-being of themselves and their teachers. 

The Conference also provided practical tools and educational material that teachers can implement themselves to enhance both their own well-being and the mental resilience and well-being of their students from programmes such as Resilient Preschools, ProW, SWPBS and the School of Happiness.

The Cyprus Education Summit, held annually, aims to explore key aspects of education and training and to highlight important actions and initiatives in the field. To this end, through the proceedings of the conference, the exchange of knowledge, views and experiences between experts, researchers and professionals from the field of education are promoted.

INTERFACE

The increasing influence of robots and algorithms on our labour markets further increases the need for uniquely “human” skills such as empathy and adaptation to change in complex environments.

This is where the Erasmus+ project INTERFACE (“Using agile, interactive learning environments to promote work-based learning in cVET”), funded by the European Union, comes in. On the one hand, the project deals with the improvement of teaching in vocational education and training.

On the other hand, it fosters low-skilled workers and trainees to receive more secure jobs on the labour markets. The main objective of the INTERFACE Project is to support low-skilled workers and trainees, who are affected by job cuts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as digitalisation.

Crowdsourcing in Education: Enriching teachers’ skills in digital humanities crowdsourcing

Crowdsourcing is an important method to improve the way education is conducted by teachers and received by students, and has been used by educational institutions in many countries with successful effects.

Having that in mind, 6 organisations from Belgium, Greece, Cyprus, Ireland and the Republic of North Macedonia are collaborating in the 2-year Erasmus+ project ENTICING, with the aim to educate and equip teachers with skills and tools on applying Digital Humanities concepts and approaches in their teaching.

The project will blend the benefits of Crowdsourcing with the need to upgrade the levels of digital readiness of secondary school teachers in humanities, by empowering them with competences and tools that will improve the quality of their teaching and at the same time will render them ready to respond quickly in circumstances of crisis.

To this end, the organisations participating in the project will develop an innovative, tailored and co-designed training programme to educate teachers on Digital Humanities Crowdsourcing and support them in improving the quality of their work.
The project activities will involve humanities school teachers in secondary education, ICT school educators and school principals, students at secondary schools, educational institutions, academia and research scholars, formal and non-formal educational providers and trainers, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders, as well as public authorities.

The organisations working together for the project are the University of the Peloponnese (Greece), KMOP Policy Centre (Belgium), Institouto Ekpedeftikis Politikis (Greece), KMOP Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia), CARDET (Cyprus) and Spectrum Research Centre CLG (Ireland).
