CARDET participated in the International Forum “Digital Tools for Inclusion of Refugees and Migrants”

CARDET participated in the International Forum under the title “Digital Tools for Inclusion of Refugees and Migrants” that was held in Madrid on the 30th of May, 2018. During the event, representatives from the Spanish National entities and organisations, such as the Community of Madrid, the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, Caritas, the Autonomous University of Madrid and PROVIVIENDA Association presented the work that has been done for the integration of asylum seekers and vulnerable populations in Spain. One of the best practices that was introduced was the “Digital Inclusion” project that aims to provide an elearning course for the inclusion of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the European host societies. CARDET has developed the elearning platform in collaboration with project partners from six European countries. The platform was demonstrated by Ms. Ourania Miliou, the representative of CARDET who was responsible for the instructional work, and the assessment tool of the platform was presented by Dr. Stefanos Spaneas, who is an Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. The main Modules that are offered are the following:

  • Module 1: Basic Computer Skills
  • Module 2: Basic Language Skills
  • Module 3:Practices for Entering the Labor Market
  • Module 4: Know Your Laws
  • Module 5: Entrepreneurship

Also, upon completion of the elearning course learners have the opportunity to get a certificate. For more information you can visit the project’s website.

Digital Culture and Digital Citizenship: Exploring the Boundaries

EY2018 objective is to help trigger real change in the way we enjoy, protect and promote heritage, benefiting citizens in the longer term.

Cultural and Creative Industries(CCIs) is one of the most sustainable sectors in times of crises and can more easily adapt to the changing conditions Europe is the second largest Cultural and Creative industry in the world after Asia, and creates 32% of global CCI revenues and 26% of world-wide CCI jobs. The whole CCIs sector represents around 4% of European GDP and provides jobs to 8 million people (European Commission, 2017).

Within the framework of the EY2018, Xenios Polis, The Greek Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications, & Information, and the international center CARDET hosted a 2-day event on Culture, Digital Technologies & Entrepreneurship. A highly attended event was well received by participants. The areas of discussion focused on 4 main pillars: (1) Digital culture and European funding opportunities (2) Museums, cultural centers and digital tools; (3) Culture, tourism, and virtual worlds; (4). 3rd National Youth Conference April 30, 2018

Challenge your future: Competencies, trends, and opportunities.

The Youth Board of Cyprus hosted the 3rd National Youth Conference in Nicosia with title: «Challenge your future: Competencies, trends, and opportunities». The board is the competent national authority dealing with youth issues and has set the strengthening of young people’s participation and involvement in social and democratic life, as one of its main priorities. This year’s event was focused on the skills and competencies the youth will need to succeed in today’s competitive globalized world. Participants included young people, schools, teachers, youth workers, policy makers, academics and other related stakeholders. Parallel consultation workshops took place during which young people had the opportunity to voice their views on issues shaping their future.

One of the main speakers at this event was OECD consultant Ms Michaela Horvathova who presented and discussed in detail the framework developed by OECD’s Center for Curriculum Design with title “Four–Dimensional Education: Knowledge, Skills, Character, Meta–Learning”. This framework is a synthesis of research about education reform and curriculum design. In line with the global trends for digital citizenship and digital skills agenda, the discussions were engaging leading to interesting insights about the future of education. Η νέα ανανεωμένη ιστοσελίδα του έργου ΓΕΙΑ ΧΑΡΑ, το οποίο προσφέρει μαθήματα εκμάθησης της ελληνικής γλώσσας σε ανήλικους ΥΤΧ, είναι πλέον διαθέσιμη. Η ιστοσελίδα περιλαμβάνει σχετικό υλικό και μία μεγάλη ποικιλία γλωσσικών δραστηριοτήτων και παιχνιδιών για δύο γλωσσικά επίπεδα. Με την επίσκεψη στην ιστοσελίδα μπορείτε να ενημερωθείτε για τους φορείς υλοποίησης και το χρονοδιάγραμμα του έργου, αλλά και για τις συνεργαζόμενες σχολικές μονάδες. Επιπλέον, μπορείτε να βρείτε υλικό ανοιχτής πρόσβασης από παρόμοια έργα και πρωτοβουλίες που αφορούν τη διδασκαλία της ελληνικής ως δεύτερης γλώσσας.

Το υλικό της ιστοσελίδας μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί κατά τη διάρκεια των γλωσσικών μαθημάτων, τόσο από τους εκπαιδευτικούς όσο και από τους ίδιους τους μαθητές. Επιπλέον, μπορεί να λειτουργήσει υποστηρικτικά σε εξωσχολικές δραστηριότητες, αφού επιτρέπει στους μαθητές να διασκεδάσουν και να μάθουν παίζοντας.

Ολοκλήρωση του δεύτερου κύκλου μαθημάτων ελληνικής γλώσσας!

Έκλεισε ο δεύτερος κύκλος των μαθημάτων ελληνικής γλώσσας, τα οποία παρακολούθησαν μαθητές ΥΤΧ, που φοιτούν στην Πρωτοβάθμια Εκπαίδευση, στο πλαίσιο του έργου ΓΕΙΑ ΧΑΡΑ με τα αποτελέσματα των εξετάσεων γλωσσομάθειας, οι οποίες έλαβαν χώρα στα τέλη του Μαρτίου 2018, να είναι ιδιαίτερα επιτυχή. Συγκεκριμένα, περισσότεροι από 290 μαθητές πέρασαν την εξέταση με επιτυχία. Όπως ανέφεραν οι ίδιοι οι μαθητές κατά τη διάρκεια των μαθημάτων είχαν την ευκαιρία να μάθουν την ελληνική γλώσσα διασκεδάζοντας και να κοινωνικοποιηθούν μέσα από ομαδικές δραστηριότητες και παιχνίδια.

Online Game for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

EntrInnO is a project that focused on addressing the need for optimizing the development of entrepreneurship and innovation in Europe. Its main focus is to enhance the skills of young EU citizens, a crucial population of a progressive, entrepreneurial and market-based economy and society. For that purpose, an interactive online game was developed, which is accessible online and offline, and can be adapted to fit various contexts. The focus of the online game and mobile app are to help youth develop entrepreneurial skills.
