Young Voices for a Greener Europe: UxGE Mobility in Brussels Brings Youth Together

A group of dynamic young changemakers from Cyprus recently took part in an inspiring international mobility to Brussels, as part of the United for a Green Europe (UxGE) project, on 7–10 July 2025. Organised within the framework of the UxGE initiative, this unique experience brought together young people from across Europe to present their proposals for a greener, more inclusive, and sustainable future.

Representing CARDET, Senior Project Manager/Researcher Eleonora Chrysanthi and five young participants – including two youth leaders and the three winners of the “United for a Greener, more Inclusive and Sustainable Europe” contest – joined peers from partner countries Ireland, Lithuania, Belgium, and Spain for four days of learning, networking, and discovery.

The primary goal of the mobility was to empower young people by enhancing their key competences and encouraging active engagement in democratic life through policy proposal development.

The agenda focused on several core objectives:

  • Strengthening the personal and professional competences of participants;
  • Equipping youth with tools and knowledge to create and implement impactful policy proposals;
  • Validating and reinforcing the learning achieved through the proposal development process;
  • Fostering transnational cooperation and peer learning among youth leaders;
  • Providing first-hand exposure to European institutions and their role in youth empowerment.

Throughout the mobility, participants had the opportunity to explore Brussels, present their innovative proposals to their peers, and visit key EU institutions, including the European Commission and the European Parliament. These visits offered invaluable insights into how the EU operates, the role of youth in policy-making, and the numerous opportunities available for young people to engage at the European level.

The atmosphere was one of enthusiasm, collaboration, and cultural exchange, with young people connecting across borders to share their visions for a better Europe. From formal visits to informal intercultural moments, every activity contributed to building confidence, fostering critical thinking, and strengthening the spirit of European solidarity among the participants.

The mobility concluded on a high note, with participants expressing a deep appreciation for the experience and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the UxGE project’s mission. Their passion and creativity stand as a testament to the importance of youth participation in shaping a sustainable Europe.

MILES: CARDET Implements Initial Training Education on Disinformation and Media Literacy for University Students

As part of the MILES project, CARDET organized a series of pilot training sessions for university students enrolled in the Social Studies program of the European University of Cyprus. The training introduced students to the interactive platform of MILES designed to strengthen their understanding of media literacy and disinformation.

Students explored the platform’s resources and tools, such as the handbook for teachers, quizzes and lesson plans, gaining practical experience in navigating digital content and critically assessing online information. The training aimed to build students’ capacity to identify and respond to disinformation, while also preparing them to bridge the digital gap between generations—especially between learners and educators.

As part of the training, students followed a structured course designed to build their understanding of disinformation and media literacy. The course began by defining key concepts and explaining the relevance of disinformation in today’s world. It then examined the current media environment and the factors that support the spread of false or misleading content.

Participants explored how disinformation operates, the techniques used to manipulate audiences, and the reasons behind its circulation. The training also offered practical strategies to enhance media and information literacy, helping students critically evaluate content and become more responsible media users. Finally, the course highlighted the importance of collaboration with communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders in addressing the challenges of disinformation.

Final Transnational Partners Meeting of the SOOS Project Held in Sedaví, Spain

On 12 June 2025, the final Transnational Partners Meeting of the SOOS – Sons of Silence project was successfully held at the Sedaví Town Council in Valencia, Spain. Representatives from all partner organisations gathered to review the project’s key achievements and finalise strategic deliverables ahead of its conclusion in August 2025.

The meeting marked the culmination of collaborative efforts under the EU-funded initiative (Project No. 2023-1-ES02-KA220-YOU-000150974), which focuses on addressing the impact of domestic violence on the behavioural development of young people.

Key highlights of the meeting included the presentation and finalisation of two major deliverables:

  • The Skills-Based Guidebook to Prevent Young People’s Victimisation, developed by EXEO LAB
  • The Peer-to-Peer Volunteering Programme, presented by RIGHTCHALLENGE

Partners also discussed the piloting phase of the volunteering programme, the successful coordination of national multiplier events, and the remaining steps toward completing the project. Sessions led by the Municipality of Sedaví, IFESCOOP, CARDET, BERLINK, and other partners addressed essential areas such as impact assessment, risk management, quality assurance, communication, and long-term sustainability strategies.

The productive day concluded with a shared vision among partners to continue advocating for effective youth engagement and protective measures beyond the project’s formal end.

The SOOS project, by fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across Europe, has made significant strides in equipping young people and communities with the tools to break the cycle of domestic violence and support peer-led prevention efforts.

Aiming to raise awareness of the far-reaching effects of domestic violence (DV) on youth, the SOOS project highlights the risks associated with experiencing DV, including its potential impact on the physical, emotional, and psychological health of young people. It also seeks to provide resources and support to those affected, while educating the public on preventative measures. Ultimately, the SOOS project aspires to reduce the prevalence of domestic violence in society and to help create safer, healthier environments for young people.
