MILES: Bringing Media Literacy to life

Platform setup, piloting and new assessment tool

The MILES project continues to move forward with exciting developments! Our team is currently finalising the setup of the online platform where the MILES training modules will soon be available in all partner languages. This multilingual platform will make our training materials easily accessible to teachers and future teachers across Europe, ensuring that language is not a barrier to developing critical media literacy skills.

At the same time, our project partners are preparing to launch pilot activities with teachers and trainee teachers. These pilot sessions will give participants the opportunity to engage with the MILES modules in real educational settings, providing valuable feedback that will help us to further refine our training approach. Piloting is a crucial step in ensuring that the content meets the needs of teachers and is both practical and effective in the classroom.

But that’s not all – following the pilot with teachers, the next phase of the project will focus on students and their families. We will run co-design workshops where students will be actively involved in shaping the learning experience. This will be followed by a series of workshops directly with students and further co-design sessions to ensure that the material reflects their perspectives and realities.

In addition, we are preparing innovative flipped classroom approaches that will involve teachers and families, creating a holistic learning environment that extends beyond the classroom and promotes critical thinking skills in everyday life.

To support the piloting phase, we have developed a new tool to help participants make an initial assessment of their current media literacy skills. This self-assessment provides an initial reflection on key skills and helps participants identify areas for development as they begin their learning journey. The English version of the assessment tool can be found here: MILES Media Literacy Assessment.

If you’re interested in learning more about our activities or would like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our contact page.

Together, we are building a strong foundation for fostering critical thinking, resilience to disinformation and responsible media engagement among teachers and students alike. Stay tuned for more updates as we move into the next phases of this exciting journey!

Students Dive into Marine Education and Robotics with RoboAquaria

Over the past three months we have successfully completed the piloting activities of the RoboAquaria project, an innovative initiative that combines robotics, digital tools, and Marine Education to raise environmental and climate awareness among young learners.

Over the course of three piloting rounds, students from Saint Nicolas Primary School and Trachoni A’ Primary School in Cyprus engaged in a series of interactive workshops focused on developing STEAM and Green skills. Through hands-on activities, students explored the fundamentals of robotics, designed and built their own robots, and learned how technology can support environmental communication and advocacy.

The piloting activities allowed educators to implement the RoboAquaria Toolkit, the Marine Education curriculum, and the project’s eLearning platform, promoting creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy in the classroom.

RoboAquaria aims to protect marine environments by integrating Educational Robotics into primary education and strengthening teachers’ competences. As part of its outcomes, the project is developing a Methodological Framework for piloting, Guidelines for Teachers, a validated RoboAquaria Toolkit with Lesson Topics, and an E-Learning Toolkit featuring Open Educational Resources (OERs) and Lesson Plans.

By bridging technology and environmental education, RoboAquaria empowers students to become active agents of change for a sustainable future.

TEAMWORK2 Releases its Latest Newsletter

As the TEAMWORK2 Project draws to a close, we celebrate its achievements in tackling workplace sexual harassment across Europe. From awareness campaigns to legal support and high-level discussions, the project has fostered collaboration, shared knowledge, and driven meaningful action, culminating in a powerful final conference in Milan.

Don’t miss the final edition of the 3rd TEAMWORK2 newsletter, highlighting these milestones and more.

TEAMWORK 2: Breaking the Taboos of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

For two years, the European project TEAMWORK 2 has opened up the dialogue, bringing to the surface an issue that for years remained taboo: sexual harassment in the workplace! With the participation of six countries, including Cyprus, and supported by the European Union, the project brought together voices, experiences, and good practices to help shape a new, safer working environment for all.

Aiming to promote gender equality, diversity, and the fight against all forms of discrimination, the project partners developed, among other things, useful tools such as:

  • An Online Learning Platform for human resource professionals,
  • Guides for training programs focused on skills development for senior management and the implementation of good practices,
  • and a Policy Recommendations Paper that includes practical recommendations for creating safer, inclusive workplaces, free from exclusion, fear, and harassment.

Cyprus is taking a big step forward with the enactment of new legislation in 2025 targeting the prevention of violence and harassment in the workplace. This legislation introduces strict regulations to ensure the protection of employees at work, extending beyond the traditional office setting to include events, seminars, and even digital communication through platforms and social media.

The TEAMWORK 2 Policy Recommendations Paper proposes even bolder measures for Cyprus and Europe:

  • Mandatory, systematic training for all employees on the prevention and handling of violence/harassment incidents.
  • Implementation of anonymous and secure reporting mechanisms via a HelpDesk line.
  • Establishment of independent bodies to impartially handle complaints.
