Virtual Reality (VR; 2D/3D computer-generated immersive environments) is expected to have a major impact in education, training, business and industry. This will also have a strong direct impact not only on SMEs but also on HE business management and related studies. HE managers and teachers themselves need in-depth education and training concerning what VR is about, what kind of VR skills and competence industry requires from graduates and how their own pedagogical approaches and classes can be boosted by using VR applications.

In the frameworks of the VRInsight European project, the University of Nicosia purchased VR Equipment and will offers a complete VR integration guide to educators through a unique VR Training Program. E-COURSE Infoday in Cyprus

On the 5th of February a targeted information event was held at the 1st Primary School of Kato Polemidia district in Limassol, Cyprus aiming to inform school inspectors, primary school teachers and school heads about the E-COURSE project. Specifically, Ms Ourania Miliou, CARDET’s representative, presented the main project outputs, including the learning Modules for strengthening the capacities of primary school teachers, the methodology of school policies on diversity. A special focus was also placed on the operation and capabilities of the E-COURSE School Support Platform.

The E-COURSE is a two-year Erasmus+ project (2017-2019) that aims to support the educational achievement of migrant and refugee children at Primary Schools by focusing on enhancing the professional development of teachers in dealing with migrant and refugee learners and diversity in their classrooms. Ο ερευνητικός και εκπαιδευτικός οργανισμός CARDET σας προσκαλεί να συμμετάσχετε σε Συνέδριο με τίτλο «Ενθαρρύνοντας την κοινωνική συμμετοχή των νέων στην ψηφιακή εποχή». Το συνέδριο θα διεξαχθεί την Δευτέρα, 25 Φεβρουαρίου 2019, από τις 9:00 μέχρι τις 13:00, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας και θα απευθύνεται σε εκπαιδευτικούς Δημοτικής και Μέσης Εκπαίδευσης, εκπαιδευτές νέων και ενηλίκων, καθώς επίσης και άτομα που εργάζονται στον τομέα της εκπαίδευσης γενικότερα.

Το θέμα του συνεδρίου αφορά στη χρήση των ηλεκτρονικών παιχνιδιών στην εκπαίδευση, τόσο από εκπαιδευτικούς όσο και από μαθητές, με στόχο την ενίσχυση των βασικών και εγκάρσιων δεξιοτήτων και την προώθηση νέων ψηφιακών λύσεων και καινοτόμων ολοκληρωμένων παιδαγωγικών μεθόδων για την ενθάρρυνση της συμμετοχής των νέων Ευρωπαίων στα κοινά. Κατά τη διάρκεια του συνεδρίου, οι συμμετέχοντες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να εφαρμόσουν το εκπαιδευτικό ηλεκτρονικό παιχνίδι SHANARANI, τo οποίo αναπτύχθηκε στο πλαίσιο του Ευρωπαϊκού Έργου Erasmus+ SHANARANI και το οποίο ασχολείται με θέματα ισότητας φύλου και στερεοτύπων.

Όσοι ενδιαφέρεστε να συμμετάσχετε στο συνέδριο, παρακαλείστε όπως συμπληρώσετε το διαδικτυακό έντυπο εγγραφής, μέχρι και τις 24 Φεβρουαρίου 2019, 12:00μ.μ.. Ο αριθμός θέσεων είναι περιορισμένος, επομένως θα τηρηθεί σειρά προτεραιότητας.

Με την ολοκλήρωση του συνεδρίου θα δοθούν πιστοποιητικά παρακολούθησης σε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες.

Το CARDET συμμετείχε στο Διεθνές Συνέδριο Νεολαίας στην Αθήνα

Πραγματοποιήθηκε σήμερα στο Aegean Collage του Πειραιά το διεθνές συνέδριο με τίτλο «Εναλλακτικοί Δρόμοι για Ευκαιρίες Απασχόλησης στην Ψηφιακή Εποχή». Η διεθνής εκδήλωση διοργανώθηκε στο πλαίσιο του έργου Erasmus “DROP-In – Early School Leavers (DROP-In – Πρόωρη Εγκατάλειψη σχολείου)”.

Το έργο Drop-in αποσκοπεί στη δημιουργία εναλλακτικών ευκαιριών για τους νέους, οι οποίοι εγκατέλειψαν πρόωρα το σχολείο, όσο αφορά την κοινωνική τους ενσωμάτωση και την αγορά εργασίας. Για το λόγο αυτό, η ηλεκτρονικής πλατφόρμας δικτύωσης, η οποία αναπτύχθηκε από την κοινοπραξία των εταίρων, είναι τώρα διαθέσιμη δωρεάν, για να παρέχει την ευκαιρία σε νέους, οι οποίοι εγκατέλειψαν το σχολείο, να βελτιώσουν τις βασικές και εγκάρσιες δεξιότητες τους, ώστε να αυξήσουν τις προοπτικές τους στην αγορά εργασίας.

Το Διεθνές Συνέδριο Ευαισθητοποίησης φιλοξένησε κύριους ομιλητές από πολλούς οργανισμούς, οι οποίοι εργάζονται με άτομα που εγκατέλειψαν πρόωρα το σχολείο; και με επαγγελματίες που δραστηριοποιούνται στον χώρο εξεύρεσης εργασίας, οι οποίοι βοήθησαν τους εταίρους στην αναγνώριση των σημαντικότερων δεξιοτήτων που χρειάζεται ένα άτομο στη σύγχρονη αγορά εργασίας.

Η εναρκτήρια ομιλία δόθηκε από την πρόεδρο του οργανισμού KMOP, Δρα Αντωνία Torrents, η οποία ανέφερε ότι «Η εύρεση κινήτρων για επιτυχία αποτελεί τον σημαντικότερο παράγοντα για όσους έχουν εγκαταλείψει πρόωρα το γενικό εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα. Η διεθνής μας συνεργασία, μέσω του έργου αυτού, επιδιώκει να συμβάλει ιδιαίτερα στη δημιουργία κινήτρων για τη νεολαία μας».

«Ο οργανισμός IARS και οι εταίροι του Ευρωπαϊκού έργου Drop-in παρουσιάζουν μια δωρεάν διαδικτυακή σειρά μαθημάτων, η οποία επιχορηγείται από το ταμείο ERASMUS+ της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, προσαρμοσμένη και σχεδιασμένη για τους νέους, στους οποίους δεν προσφέρθηκαν ίσες ευκαιρίες για εκπαίδευση. Η πρόωρη εγκατάλειψη του σχολείου δεν είναι σφάλμα των ίδιων των νέων. Αποτελεί δική μας αποτυχία ως σύγχρονη Ευρωπαϊκή κοινωνία να ανταποκριθούμε στην πραγματικότητα και η κοινοπραξία του έργου Drop-in δημιουργήθηκε για να ανταποκριθεί σε αυτή την ανάγκη», δήλωσε ο Ιδρυτής και Διευθυντής του οργανισμού IARS και Συντονιστής του έργου Drop- in, Δρ. Theo Gavrielides.

Μετά την ολοκλήρωση των ομιλιών ακολούθησαν πολλά εργαστήρια, στο πλαίσιο των οποίων οι συμμετέχοντες του συνεδρίου είχαν την ευκαιρία να υλοποιήσουν δραστηριότητες, να μοιραστούν γνώσεις και να αλληλεπιδράσουν με τους εκπαιδευτές. Το συνέδριο κατάφερε να προωθήσει την ευαισθητοποίηση σχετικά με τα άτομα που εγκαταλείπουν πρόωρα το σχολείο και την ανάγκη να τους παρέχονται εναλλακτικές ευκαιρίες για την ανάπτυξη και βελτίωση των δεξιοτήτων τους, μέσω εναλλακτικών οδών.

Το έργο DROP-In χρηματοδοτείται από το Ταμείο Erasmus+ της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής και θα διαρκέσει για 24 μήνες (από Σεπτέμβριο 2017 μέχρι Αύγουστο 2019). Εφαρμόζεται από μια ομάδα 5 πεπειραμένων εταίρων σε 5 χώρες (Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, Ρουμανία, Ελλάδα, Κύπρος και Ιταλία), με επικεφαλής το Διεθνές Ινστιτούτο IARS.

As European societies become more multi-cultural, we need to raise awareness of the many reasons for which people choose or are forced to leave their own countries. This understanding can help to promote respect for diversity and encourage social cohesion. In particular, more information needs to be disseminated to young people, who are the decision makers of tomorrow, but whose opinions on migration and asylum are not always based on factual and balanced information.

In the meantime, asylum seekers in our countries live a disillusionment related not only to the situation they fled from, but to especially the “welcoming” of hosting countries. The host countries should equip this disadvantaged generation of asylum seekers with the tools to foster integration and to regain their dignity after dehumanizing journeys on their way to EU as well as preventing radicalization.

The ODISSEU project was designed to develop young people digital and media literacy competences, so as to develop resistance to all forms of discrimination. The project will produce a holistic and inclusive Online Simulation Game to explain forced migration which allows broad participation across the whole school, including integration into the curriculum, provision for skills development and shifts in pedagogy and mindset by participating teachers, and a genuinely involvement of asylum seekers as active change agent throughout the project. This will make it both innovative (entirely new in EU) and complimentary to existing work.

The Center for the Advancement of Research & Development in Educational Technology is organizing on February 28th 2019, 08:30 – 16:00, at The Classic Hotel (El Greco Conference Room) in Nicosia, a Workshop under the theme “Air Quality in Balkan-Med: Challenges and Solutions“. The Workshop is organized within the project “Fostering resource efficiency and climate change resilience through community based Air Quality Internet of Things – AIRTHINGS” and aims at informing general public and relevant stakeholders about air quality.

During the workshop, the existing air quality data and problems encountered in the wider Balkan region and the Mediterranean will be presented and discussed, in order to address the issue through already implemented practices and the AIRTHINGS project. In this context, public bodies, government representatives and individuals from the private sector will have the opportunity to contribute by expressing their opinions through interventions, speeches and discussions.

The AIRTHINGS Project is co-funded by the Transnational Cooperation Programme “Interreg V-B Balkan-Med 2014-2020” and aims at fostering sustainable development and mitigating climate change in the region through joint cooperation measures and transfer of experience between the six project partners. The main objective of the project is to propose to national and regional authorities innovative and cost effective measures that ensure better air quality in urban areas and at the same time to raise public awareness, so that policies will be easily adopted by public bodies and citizens.
