The massive open online course (MOOC) has been produced as part of the Visual/Video Literacies project which is co-funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union and Lancaster University (UK), Danube University Krems (Austria), CARDET (Cyprus) and WIDE Services (Greece). As an associate member, the Louisiana Tech University (Department of Visual Arts, VISTA program) worked with us to provide infographics and visuals.
CARDET is proud to be one of the 28 Country Coordinators who participated the EWSI (European Web Site on Integration) 8th Editorial Meeting on the 18th and 19th of September in Brussels, Belgium. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together Country Co-ordinators from each of the 28 EU Member States to discuss content and promotional priorities of the Site.
In this regard, CARDET is responsible for uploading national level content, collecting information to produce EU-wide analyses and promoting the Web Site in their respective countries. During the editorial meeting the 2017 integration developments and the 2018 priorities for integration at EU level were discussed, setting the future targets and goals in respect of the content and promotion of the Website.
What is EWSI?
The European Web Site on Integration is the European Commission’s portal for information on immigrant integration. The aim of the European Web Site on Integration is to help improve the effectiveness of integration policies and practices in the European Union by sharing successful strategies and supporting collaboration and cooperation between practitioners. It is intended as a tool for people working in the field of integration, both in non-government and government organisations.
Background Information
The integration of third-country nationals legally residing in the Member States of the European Union (EU) has gained increasing importance on the European agenda in recent years.
The Hague Programme on strengthening freedom, security and justice in the EU, adopted by the European Council in November 2004, called for the development of a Web Site on Integration. In that same month the Groningen Ministerial Conference on Integration invited the Commission, in close cooperation with the National Contact Points on Integration, to establish a public- private partnership to create and maintain an integration Web Site.
The European Commission’s Directorate General for Home Affairs has commissioned the Migration Policy Group in partnership with various organisations like CARDET to develop the website in 2007. Since 2011, MPG maintains the website together with Intrasoft International as IT service provider.
How EWSI supports Integration in the EU
The website provides a “one-stop-shop” for information and good practices to support the integration of immigrants in all Member States.
The website covers all dimensions of integration and gathers information from a wide variety of stakeholders. It has been designed for use by national, regional and local authorities, by civil society organisations, and by practitioners in local organisations.
The aim is also to develop the Site as an EU-wide platform for networking on integration, through exchange about policy and practice.

Ολοκληρώθηκαν τα μαθήματα της Ελληνικής Γλώσσας μέσω του προγράμματος «Γεια Χαρά» σε παιδιά που προέρχονται από τρίτες χώρες στο Κέντρο Υποδοχής και Φιλοξενίας Αιτητών Διεθνούς Προστασίας (ΚΥΦΑΔΠ) Κοφίνου. Τα μαθήματα διεξάγονταν στην Κοινόχρηστη Αίθουσα που βρίσκεται εντός του Κέντρου Υποδοχής και Φιλοξενίας.
Το πρόγραμμα «Γεια Χαρά» διεξάγεται στο πλαίσιο του έργου «Greek Language Courses for Third Country Nationals» και συγχρηματοδοτείται από τα Ταμεία Ασύλου, Μετανάστευσης και Ένταξης (90%) και την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία (10%).(CY/2018/AMIF/SO2.NO2.1.4/2) Το εν λόγω έργο υλοποιείται από το Παιδαγωγικό Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου, σε συνεργασία με τη Διεύθυνση Δημοτικής Εκπαίδευσης, το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο CARDET και τη Συμβουλευτική Εταιρεία INNOVADE. Την ευθύνη για την υλοποίηση του προγράμματος έχει η Επιτροπή Διεθνών Σχέσεων και Ευρωπαϊκών Θεμάτων του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών. Τα μαθήματα εκμάθησης ελληνικής γλώσσας για ανήλικους μετανάστες – ΥΤΧ, τα οποία προσφέρονται δωρεάν, συνεχίστηκαν για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά με την ίδια κοινοπραξία, συμβάλλοντας με αυτή τη δράση στην ένταξη των ΥΤΧ στην τοπική κοινωνία.
Οι παιδαγωγικές προσεγγίσεις που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν η διαλογική μέθοδος, η ιδεοθύελλα, τα εκπαιδευτικά παιχνίδια, οι θεατροπαιδαγωγικές μέθοδοι, η ομαδοσυνεργατική προσέγγιση, παρουσίαση και η διάλεξη. Τα μαθήματα ήταν εστιασμένα στη βιωματική μάθηση και τη μαθητοκεντρική προσέγγιση. Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του μαθήματος γινόταν διαγνωστική αξιολόγηση και όπου κρινόταν απαραίτητο γινόταν ανατροφοδότηση. Τελική αξιολόγηση των μαθητών συντελέστηκε τη μέρα της εξέτασης, όπου όλοι οι μαθητές είχαν επιτύχει, γεγονός που αποδεικνύει και την επίτευξη του σκοπού και των εκπαιδευτικών στόχων του προγράμματος.
Στην τελετή λήξης των μαθημάτων στις 10/9/2018 παρευρέθηκε σύσσωμο το προσωπικό του ΚΥΦΑΔΠ Κοφίνου, οι γονείς των συμμετεχόντων καθώς επίσης και πολλοί άλλοι διαμένοντες. Οι συμμετέχοντες, οι οποίοι όλοι έχουν επιτύχει στην τελική εξέταση έλαβαν Πιστοποιητικό Παρακολούθησης και δωρεάν tablet ως επιβράβευση της προσπάθειάς τους. Η τελετή έληξε με δεξίωση με κυπριακά κεράσματα αλλά και διάφορα εδέσματα από τις χώρες των ΥΤΧ που ετοίμασαν οι ίδιοι οι διαμένοντες.
Αναμφίβολα το πρόγραμμα «Γεια Χαρά» ενισχύει την κοινωνική συνοχή και μειώνει την ξενοφοβία και τον ρατσισμό, δημιουργώντας ευκαιρίες διαδραστική επικοινωνίας και δραστηριοποίησης με τους Κύπριους και άλλους πολίτες που ζουν στην Κύπρο.
Έναρξη του Προγράμματος Εκμάθησης Ελληνικών σε Ανήλικους Υπηκόους Τρίτων Χωρών (ΥΤΧ), το οποίο αφορά μαθητές/μαθήτριες που φοιτούν ή θα φοιτήσουν στη Δημοτική Εκπαίδευση κατά τη διάρκεια της σχολικής χρονιάς 2017-2018. Το Πρόγραμμα «Γεια Χαρά» διεξάγεται στο πλαίσιο του έργου “Greek Language Courses for Third Country Nationals” και υλοποιείται από το Παιδαγωγικό Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου, σε συνεργασία με τη Διεύθυνση Δημοτικής Εκπαίδευσης, το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο CARDET και τη Συμβουλευτική Εταιρεία INNOVADE. Το έργο συγχρηματοδοτείται κατά 90% από το Ταμείο Ασύλου και Μετανάστευσης της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και κατά 10% από την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία ενώ τελεί υπό τη διαχειριστική εποπτεία της Μονάδας Ευρωπαϊκών Ταμείων του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών Κύπρου (CY/2018/AMIF/SO2.NO2.1.4/2).
Η έναρξη του «Γεια Χαρά» με τη διαδικασία των αξιολογήσεων των εγγραφών έγινε την Δευτέρα 6 Αυγούστου 2018, στο Κέντρο Υποδοχής και Φιλοξενίας Αιτητών Διεθνούς Προστασίας (ΚΥΦΑΔΠ) Κοφίνου, με την παροχή υποστηρικτικών υπηρεσιών, από το προσωπικό. Στις αρχικές συναντήσεις ενημερώθηκαν οι γονείς και τα παιδιά (στα ελληνικά, στα αγγλικά, στα αραβικά και στα κουρδικά) για τους σκοπούς και τους στόχους του προγράμματος και καθορίστηκαν οι μέρες και οι ώρες διδασκαλίας. Λόγω της αυξημένης συμμετοχής και για τα καλύτερα δυνατά αποτελέσματα δημιουργήθηκαν 2 τμήματα. Οι 20 ανήλικοι μετανάστες, ΥΤΧ που συμμετέχουν στα μαθήματα προέρχονται από τη Συρία, το Ιράκ, την Αίγυπτο, την Ιορδανία, την Τουρκία, τον Λίβανο και τη Παλαιστίνη.
Στο πρώτο μάθημα τα παιδιά θα λάβουν δωρεάν την απαραίτητη γραφική ύλη (μολύβια, σβήστρα, ξύστρα, ρίγα) και το βιβλίο «Γεια σας» μαζί με το βοηθητικό βιβλίο που δημιουργήθηκε στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος «Γεια Χαρά» για να εξυπηρετήσει τους σκοπούς και στόχους του έργου. Επιπλέον, κάρτες αποθήκευσης (usb) και τετράδιο θα δοθούν στα παιδιά. Οι συμμετέχοντες που θα πετύχουν στην τελική εξέταση θα πάρουν Πιστοποιητικό Παρακολούθησης και δώρο tablet ως επιβράβευση της προσπάθειάς τους.
Κυρίαρχος σκοπός του προγράμματος είναι η βελτίωση και ενίσχυση της Ένταξης των ανήλικων ΥΤΧ στην Κυπριακή Κοινωνία. Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος κύρια μέριμνα είναι να καλυφθεί μία ποικιλία γλωσσικών φαινομένων μέσα από τη βιωματική μάθηση για να είναι σε θέση οι συμμετέχοντες για άρτια επικοινωνία. Η αλληλεπίδραση και η προσέγγιση με άτομα διαφορετικής κουλτούρας, θρησκείας και γενικά ιστορίας αποτελεί σημαντικό κομμάτι του προγράμματος επίσης, το οποίο πέρα από την εκμάθηση της ελληνικής γλώσσας στοχεύει και στην ανάπτυξη κοινωνικών δεξιοτήτων μέσα στο πολυπολιτισμικό πλαίσιο που φέρει. Η αγάπη, η εκτίμηση και η ευγνωμοσύνη είναι αξίες αμοιβαίες που ενισχύονται στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος και τίθενται σε πρώτη μοίρα. Η υλοποίηση τέτοιων προγραμμάτων ενισχύουν την κοινωνική συνοχή και μειώνουν την ξενοφοβία και τον ρατσισμό, δημιουργώντας ευκαιρίες δια δραστικής επικοινωνίας και δραστηριοποίησης με τους Κύπριους και άλλους πολίτες που ζουν στην Κύπρο.
In the process of finalizing the cultural, social and language integration toolkit in the form of a mobile application, orienting the young newcomer refugees into the hosting societies’ cultural and social realities and norms, BLEDN-IN Consortium has published a report describing its making process and testing. The BLEND-IN APP report may be downloaded from BLEND-IN webpage, the same interface where BLEND IN APP may be reached by the end of September 2018.
