1st Newsletter of the MEET project for Cyprus

Welcome to the first issue of the MEET newsletter for Cyprus!

This newsletter is issued on the completion of the project’s 8 months. During the period of October 2016 until May 2017, the MEET’s consortium of partners have organised and attended two Transnational meetings in Italy and Cyprus. In addition, CARDET has pursued many activities to disseminate the project to a variety of stakeholders.

2nd National Seminar for Multipliers in Cyprus

INNOVADE in collaboration with CARDET, organized the 2nd Multiplier Event for the Project ‘Identity and Diversity Picture Book Collections’. The 2nd Multiplier Event took place on the 22nd of May 2017 at the 3rd Primary School in Limassol. During the event, 16 educators were informed about the project’s aims, objectives and rationale. Moreover, the results of the project were presented (such as leaflet, poster, website, etc). The five modules developed by the IDPBC consortium were tested and participants provided feedback. The picture book based approaches and the Implementation guide for practitioners were also presented.

IDPBC Final Meeting

On the 29th of June, the fourth and last meeting of the IDPBC consortium took place at the University of Nicosia, in Nicosia, Cyprus. CARDET presented to partners the web platform, along with the e-learning modules which has developed. Also, important issues such as the exploitation of the project, the final conference and several project management and financial issues were discussed in detail. Partners from DDG (Lithuania), UPIT (Romania), INNOVADE (Cyprus), Doukas School (Greece), IPCB (Portugal) and CARDET (Cyprus) participated in this meeting.

IDPBC International Conference

The final conference of the project ‘Identity and Diversity Picture Book Collections Project’ took place on the 30th of June 2017! The final conference was successfully attended by more than 50 teachers, school principals, psychologists, parents, social workers and students. Firstly, our keynote speaker Dr. Petros Panaou gave a really inspiring speech while after that, the partners of the consortium presented the IDPBC project and its outputs such as the IDPBC Annotated Bibliographic Catalogue and the guide for practitioners. At the end, three workshops followed and participants had the opportunity to engage with activities related to stereotypes, discrimination, use of open educational resources, multilingual and multicultural classrooms, and digital literacy.

3rd Newsletter of the SciFUN project

Welcome to the third issue of the SciFUN newsletter!

This newsletter is issued on the completion of the project’s 18 months. During the period of January until early April 2017, the SciFUN’s consortium of partners have completed the Intellectual Output 5 on the development of the “Sample Cross-Curricular Units” and have pursued many activities to disseminate the project to a variety of stakeholders.

Lighthouse Multiplier Events

Three multiplier events were organized within the Lighthouse Project. The events were successfully attended by more than 40 social workers, trainers, psychologists and people working with migrants in general. Participants had the opportunity to get to know all the outputs of the Lighthouse project such as the Lighthouse interactive model, the training curriculum, the guidebook, toolbox and didactic film. The Updated Cyprus Guide is now online

The Cyprus Guide is composed of thematic units providing information covering all aspects of daily life in Cyprus in order to support the integration of TCNs and their participation in the economic, social and cultural life of the island. The Guide is available in different languages covering the main mother tongues of TCNs in Cyprus.

The updated version of the Guide is now available online and it can be accessed here.

The Guide is also available in other languages such as Russian, Sri Lankans (Sinhala and Tamil), Arabic and Filipino. The updated version of these languages is expected to be uploaded online within the following weeks.

This program is managed by the SME INNOVADE and the International Research Centre CARDET. The action “Upgrade of the Cyprus Information Guide” (Action A1 – CY/2016/AMIF/SO2.NO1.1.1) is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus.
