Promoting Anti-Racism in Schools through the “Raise the Bar” Project

Focused on fostering respect, understanding, and collaboration in schools, the partners of the Raise the Bar: Becoming Anti-Racist Schools project gathered once again in Thessaloniki for an international training event.

From January 21–23, 2025, the Directorate of Primary Education of Western Thessaloniki welcomed educators and partners from Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, and Romania to explore strategies for promoting anti-racism and inclusion in schools.

The three-day event featured interactive workshops, discussions, and practical activities, including:

  • Understanding discrimination and minority issues in Europe.
  • Exploring Critical Race Theory.
  • Applying anti-racist teaching methods in classrooms.

CARDET contributed by hosting a workshop on Critical Race Theory, emphasizing the importance of identifying and addressing systemic racism in education.

Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices, strengthening the project’s mission to create inclusive schools. They also provided valuable feedback and collaborated on developing modules and an upcoming toolkit for students.
