The Mediterranean Inclusive Schools: Info Day at the 1st elementary school of Dali

The International Research Centre CARDET in collaboration with “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center organized a MEDIS Info day in an effort to empower children and promote the social inclusion between the students of the 1st elementary school of Dali in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Students between the ages of 6-11 years old had the opportunity to participate in small scale interactive sessions, through which they were called to break down the stereotypes and discuss about attitudinal and behavioural indicators of discrimination.

The info day took place on the 12th of December 2018 with the participation of 139 students and 8 educators. During the small scale interactive sessions students had the opportunity to actively participate and discuss concepts tackled in the MEDIS programme such as racism, inclusive education, stereotypes and human rights.

Finally, it is important to highlight the fact that through the MEDIS workshops that took place during the info day, both educators and students were provided with insights as to what is the scope of MEDIS project and what it offers, while the school itself showed interest to participate in the pilot activities of the project.

A mobile app to help migrants and refugees Blend-In

The App will become a useful resource for new entrants in the host societies involved in the project – Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Malta – providing them with essential and easy to comprehend information about their said countries.

Filling an observed gap in resources to help young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers during their early days in a new country, the App will provide them with language and cultural orientation helping them navigate through and best cope with the challenges they face. The app is available through Google Play, while additional information about the BLEND IN project can be found on its website.
