Soci@ll kick-off meeting in Portugal

It is widely acknowledge that growing diversity in Europe poses both opportunities and challenges to European policy-makers and societies. While is expected that this diversity will continue to grow, evidences show that intolerance and social exclusion are increasing and alert to the relevant role played by Education in preparing societies for dealing with these phenomena and transmitting values and attitudes that honour openness and learning from difference. As such, promoting equality, tolerance, respect for diversity and inclusion in and through education is currently an important EU policy objective and Member States are working to deliver on the objectives they set in the Paris Declaration signed in March 2015.

In this context, soci@ll (Whole School Social Labs) will generate a paradigmatic change in the way schools and communities operate and cooperate to create innovative approaches for social inclusion, promoting participatory and empowering tools for creative and sustainable solutions co-designed by, with and for key-stakeholders within a whole school framework and through local social labs, organised into a European network supported by a virtual platform.

In this framework, the soci@ll kick-off meeting took place on the 7th- 8th of March 2018 in Matosinhos, Portugal, where partners had the opportunity to discuss the roadmap, challenges and goals of the project.
