SMART Volunteering for Female Migrants- A successfully completed project
The SMART Volunteering for Female Migrants project was successfully completed at the end of December 2019. Through this project, the consortium had the opportunity to meet, interact and engage female migrants as well as people coming from the business sector and the civil society.
The project , funded by the by the European Commission, the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund , run between 2018 and 2019 and was implemented by a consortium of organizations from Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom.
The partnership of SMART Volunteering developed the learner materials through the outcomes that derived from the Needs Analysis that took place at the beginning of the project and provided a series of trainings to the two target groups (business sector and NGOs) in order to inform and motivate them to include migrant women into their work and volunteering activities. Also, some more material were produced by using the methodology of Mentoring Circles™ that involved a series of sessions with female migrants in each country to help them understand what ’social skills’ are and how they can use those to be empowered.
On the 21st of November, over 60 participants, including EU-wide platforms, policy-makers, specialist NGOs and individual migrant women, attended the Final Conference of the project that was held at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels. During the Final Conference all results and material produced by the partnership were presented and female migrants coming from the partner countries were invited in order to share their experience on participating in this project and how they were benefit from it.
The SMART Volunteering for Female Migrants project was a fruitful multi-agency cooperation between civil society, business community and migrant women in five European countries that promoted the better integration and active participation of Third Country National (TCN) females in socio-economic life of European societies.
