MEDIS hosts a series of workshops on its course against social exclusion
MEDIS, a project implemented by CARDET and Hope for Children, is delivering a series of workshops in Nicosia and Limassol for teachers, psychologists and social educators. Through the working of these workshops, participants are introduced to the Course developed by the project to equip them with knowledge and skills to address and tackle social exclusion with migrant students being the main focus.
Two trainings have already taken place, on the 16th of April at the school of Agios Nicolaos in Limassol and on the 13th of May at the Classic Hotel in Nicosia. Both these trainings were attended by school educators and stakeholders who had the chance to explore and guided through the modules and learning outcomes of the course and become acquainted with techniques that will help them improve their teaching and support an inclusive learning environment. Moreover, building on the success and great interest received for these two workshops, the two partners are panning three additional sessions in schools in Nicosia and Limassol.
The MEDIS online course is designed in accordance to the European standards for modern education and is complemented by a collection of Good Practices from Spain, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus collected by the project team. The Course covers a wide array of thematic areas of teaching featuring Modules on: Empowering (positive management of conflicts; Self-Knowledge; Personal Action Plans and Abilities); Rooting the Net (integral education; coordinated with the environment and community projects) and Getting in Touch (restorative groups; focus group on hot topics; participatory groups).
Following the MEDIS training workshops, CARDET and Hope for Children CRC Policy Centre will facilitate two different pilot phases in 24 schools across Cyprus.
