CARDET successfully organised an online discussion on the safety and rights of children in sports, with the aim to offer comprehensive information and guidance to key stakeholders in the field. The event was aimed at parents, coaches and sports professionals who had the opportunity to be informed about the existing data and the necessary steps that are needed in order to provide a safe environment for children in sports.
For this reason, local and international experts and representatives of institutions were invited to participate in the discussion. More specifically, the Commissioner for the Protection for Children´s Rights, Despo Michaelidou-Livaniou, the President of the Council FONI, Anastasia Papadopoulou, the Technical Director of Liverpool Academy in Cyprus, Nektarios Alexandrou, and representatives from UEFA Foundation for Children participated in the discussion and shared their experiences and insights.
As more and more children engage in sports activities, it is extremely important that they can safely participate, without any fear. An important parameter to achieve this is the correct information of all bodies and individuals involved in sports, as well as parents and children. This is the main goal of the ACTIVE project, and we are positive that this events will pave the beginning of many more positive discussions and actions around the subject.
