CARDET and ISPD Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Democracy and Civic Engagement

The Centre for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology (CARDET) and the Institute of Studies for Politics and Democracy (ISPD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a framework for joint initiatives in research, democratic governance, policy development and civic engagement.
Signed on 16 October 2026, the agreement aims to promote participatory democracy, strengthen public trust in democratic institutions and encourage meaningful citizen participation in policymaking. Through their collaboration, the two organisations will seek to develop evidence-informed initiatives that support democratic governance and contribute to a more informed, inclusive and engaged society.
The Memorandum outlines several areas of cooperation, including:
- Joint research and policy publications to generate evidence and inform policy development.
- Conferences, public discussions and knowledge exchange to facilitate dialogue and share expertise on democratic governance and civic participation.
- Joint projects at national, European and international levels to advance shared objectives and strengthen collaboration across sectors.
By combining their expertise and networks, CARDET and ISPD aim to create opportunities for research, dialogue and collaborative action that support democratic participation and strengthen the relationship between citizens and democratic institutions.
CARDET was represented at the signing by Dr Marinos Papaioakeim, Head of Programme Implementation, and Ms Nadia Karayianni, Head of Business Development. ISPD was represented by Dr Christoforos Fokaides, President, and Dr Constantinos Adamides, Director.
Both organisations look forward to building on this agreement through concrete collaborative initiatives that promote democratic governance, informed policymaking and active civic engagement.
