CARDET Receives First Prize in the 2026 Good Practice Examples Competition

CARDET has been awarded First Prize in the 2026 Good Practice Examples Competition for its good practice example on the Prevention and Management of Psychosocial Risks.

The award was granted following the decision of the Technical Evaluation Committee of the Pancyprian Safety and Health Council, recognising CARDET’s systematic approach to preventing and managing psychosocial risks in the workplace.

The award was presented by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance during the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Safety and Health at Work Week. The ceremony forms part of the wider Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2026–2028 – Together for Mental Health at Work, and is held with funding from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA).

At CARDET, workplace mental health and wellbeing are approached as organisational and strategic priorities rather than as a collection of standalone initiatives.

Over the past years, the organisation has been developing an evidence-informed and preventive approach that combines employee voice, psychosocial risk assessment, organisational data, leadership development and concrete workplace practices.

Key elements of this journey have included the assessment of psychosocial risks, continuous employee feedback through surveys and organisational dialogue, collective reflection during the Staff Retreat, and the identification of six organisational priorities together with employees.

These priorities focus on:

  • Leadership Excellence & Consistency
  • Workload Management
  • Planning & Prioritisation
  • Meeting Effectiveness
  • Career Progression
  • Recognition

These priorities sit within CARDET’s broader Thriving Workplace Framework, through which the organisation seeks not only to respond to wellbeing challenges, but also to strengthen the organisational conditions that help prevent psychosocial risks and support mental health, psychological safety, sustainable performance and healthier ways of working.

The framework promotes clearer governance and shared responsibility for workplace wellbeing, recognising the contribution of leadership, People & Culture, managers, employees and other internal structures in shaping a healthy work environment.

This recognition also reflects the contribution of employees across the organisation who have shared their experiences, provided feedback, participated in discussions and initiatives, and helped shape the workplace CARDET continues to build.

While the award represents an important achievement, CARDET sees it primarily as encouragement to continue listening, learning, measuring impact and strengthening the conditions that enable both people and the organisation to thrive.

Together We Thrive. Together We Create Impact.
