GEM IN – Game to EMbrace INtercultural education

The purpose of the project “Game to EMbrace INtercultural education” – GEM IN is to support intercultural education at school and in non-formal youth environments as vehicle to foster social inclusion, cross-cultural dialogue and active citizenship by promoting European values. At the same time, the project intends to provide inputs and policy recommendations for intervention strategies to promote intercultural education and active citizenship through an innovative educational framework.

GEM IN aims to disseminate and scale up a selection of good practices developed within a previous project titled GEM in schools, non-formal and youth educational environments, promoting intercultural education as key lever to enhance the acquisition of social and civic competences and to promote the ownership of shared values.

European Network of Active Civil Society for Education and Diversity

The purpose of the ENACTED project (European Network of Active Civil Society for Education and Diversity) is to create an online networking platform connecting European Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and schools working with newly arrived migrant students, aiming to provide Quality and Inclusive Education for all learners.

As such, ENACTED steps in to facilitate the collection, analysis, evaluation, and exchange of promising CSOs’ practices by offering a database and useful tool in the form of a networking platform that CSOs and schools can use to advance their work and upscale their effectiveness.

Web-Quest challenges for young people to develop their knowledge about climate change

The current changes in the planet’s climate are transforming the world. The last two decades included 18 of the warmest years on record, and extreme weather events, such as forest fires, heat waves and floods, are becoming more frequent both in Europe and elsewhere. Scientists warn that without urgent action, global warming is likely to exceed 2°C above preindustrial levels by 2060, and could even be as much as 5°C by the end of the century. Such a rise in the global temperature will have a devastating impact on nature, bringing about irreversible changes to many ecosystems and a consequent loss of biodiversity. The EU is determined to help raise global ambition and is leading by example. The EU is one of the signatories to the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to well below 2°C and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.

The objectives of the project are:

  1. to build the capacity of front-line youth workers to use bespoke challenge-based learning approaches – Digital Breakouts – in their everyday activities and to build their capacity to develop their own Digital Breakout challenge based learning resources;
  2. to provide a comprehensive range of climate-change focused Digital Breakouts to inspire young people to find meaningful solutions.

The Intellectual Outputs of the project are:

  • In-service Training Programme
  • A bespoke compendium of Digital Breakout resources
  • A PLANet B Online course (MOOC)

Target groups (youths and youth educators) will benefit from receiving innovative and quality training, increase their awareness regarding climate change and develop educational competences such web-quests and online learning.
