Κυνήγι Θησαυρού με Geocaching: Γνωρίζω τα Πάρκα της Λευκωσίας

Ποια ομάδα θα προλάβει να βρει τα περισσότερα geocaches που κρύβονται στα πάρκα της Λευκωσίας;

Το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο CARDET και ο Οργανισμός Νεολαίας Κύπρου (ΟΝΕΚ) μας προσκαλούν στις 11 Μαρτίου 2017, από τις 8:00 μέχρι τις 13:00 να φορέσουμε τα άνετα μας παπούτσια, να πάρουμε στο χέρι το κινητό μας τηλέφωνο και να τρέξουμε στα Πάρκα της Λευκωσίας προσπαθώντας να ανακαλύψουμε τα geocaches που κρύβονται εκεί!

Τι είναι το geocaching;

To geocaching είναι ένα παγκόσμιο παιχνίδι όπου ο παίκτης, κάνοντας χρήση συσκευής με δυνατότητα GPS, προσπαθεί να ανακαλύψει geocaches (μικρά κουτάκια) που κρύβονται σε διάφορα σημεία στον κόσμο, ακολουθώντας τις συντεταγμένες για να φτάσει στην κρυψώνα τους!

Στην Κύπρο υπάρχουν περισσότερα από 1000 κρυμμένα geocaches, από τα κέντρα των πόλεων, στις βουνοκορφές, κάτω από ελιές, πίσω από βράχους, στις παραλίες και στα φράγματα. Σε 3 πάρκα της Λευκωσίας, στο Γραμμικό Πάρκο Πεδιαίου, στο Πάρκο της Αθαλάσσας και στο Πάρκο της Ακαδημίας κρύβονται 8 geocaches. Το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο CARDET, στα πλαίσια του έργου CRE8IVE που χρηματοδοτείται από το Erasmus+ της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, σε συνεργασία με τον ΟΝΕΚ, προσκαλούν το κοινό να ανακαλύψει αυτά τα 8 καλά κρυμμένα κουτάκια. Σκοπός είναι να στραφεί το βλέμμα του κοινού προς τους πράσινους πνεύμονες της πόλης μας, οι οποίοι όλο και συρρικνώνονται, μέσω μιας διασκεδαστικής δραστηριότητας!

Πως παίζουμε;

  • Μέχρι τις 6 Μαρτίου 2017 κάνουν εγγραφή όλα τα μέλη της ομάδας μας στη σχετική φόρμα
  • Δημιουργούμε τουλάχιστον ένα δωρεάν λογαριασμό στο www.geocaching.org για κάθε ομάδα.
  • Στις 11 Μαρτίου στις 8:00, κάνουμε log in στον λογαριασμό μας στο Geocaching και ακολουθούμε τις συντεταγμένες και τις περιγραφές για να βρούμε τα 8 geocaches που βρίσκονται στα 3 μεγάλα πάρκα της Λευκωσίας (4* στο Γραμμικό Πάρκο Πεδιαίου , 3 στο Πάρκο Αθαλάσσας και 1 στο Πάρκο Ακαδημίας)
    *Ένα από τα 4 geocaches στο Γραμμικό Πάρκο Πεδιαίου είναι multicache, κρύβει δηλαδή περισσότερα από 1 geocaches. Η ανεύρεση των multicache μετράει σαν μπόνους!
  • Όποτε βρίσκουμε ένα geocache:
    • Υπογράφουμε το ημερολόγιο που βρίσκουμε μέσα
    • Καταγράφουμε την ανακάλυψή μας στην ιστοσελίδα του geocaching
    • Βγάζουμε φωτογραφία με το geocache και την ανεβάζουμε στην σελίδα της εκδήλωσης στο Facebook!
  • Έχουμε 5 ώρες στη διάθεσή μας για να βρούμε τα 9 αυτά geocaches (μέχρι τις 13:00)
  • Μέχρι τις 13:00 καταφθάνουμε στο Πάρκο Ακαδημίας όπου θα υπάρχει κέρασμα και θα απονεμηθεί το πρώτο βραβείο στη νικήτρια ομάδα!

Τελικά, ποια ομάδα θα προλάβει να βρει τα περισσότερα geocaches που κρύβονται στα πάρκα της Λευκωσίας και θα κερδίσει το πρώτο βραβείο; Ίσως να είναι η δική σας! Θα τα πούμε στο Πάρκο της Ακαδημίας στις 11 Μαρτίου η ώρα 13:00!

“Time for Change” Conference Proceedings

CARDET in collaboration with the NGO Future World Center successfully implemented the conference “Time for Change: Supply Chains in the Cyprus Context” on the 19 th January 2016 at Classic Hotel, Nicosia for the European project Sustainable Production and Consumption in the framework of EYD2015 and beyond!, and the campaign Stop Mad Mining.

The conference focused on the humanitarian, social and environmental impacts of Global Supply Chains in reference to metallic raw materials and food that is sourced from the Global North. The conference focused on a number of situations in the ground and on legislations.

The conference was headlined by Mrs. Sophia Pickles from the international NGO Global Witness (UK) and Dr. Martin Wildenberg from the International NGO Global 2000 (AU). The keynote speakers talked about their experience on the effects and legislative efforts of Supply Chains around the globe pertaining to the Conflict mineral trade, the branded products and tropical fruits and focused especially on the legislative processes that have started emerging in trying to regulate the adverse effects of the global supply chains in communities, environment and development. Finally the speeches were completed with Dr. Charalambos Theopemptou (Cyprus MP) who spoke about the obstructionistic challenges faced in the Cyprus Parliament in enforcing EU legislation.

The conference was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it was intended as a lobby conference to catch up important stakeholders with the current developments in terms of reigning in the Global Trade and Global Supply Chains.

After the conference two workshops were held on the Raw materials legislation and the Tropical Fruits and Branded products, respectively.

Πρόγραμμα Εκμάθησης Ελληνικών σε Ανήλικους Υπηκόους Τρίτων Χωρών (ΥΤΧ)

Η εκμάθηση της ελληνικής γλώσσας από ανήλικους μαθητές ΥΤΧ μπορεί να ενισχύει και να υποστηρίξει την ένταξή τους στην κυπριακή κοινωνία. Αναλυτικότερα, μέσα από τη φοίτησή τους σε τμήματα εκμάθησης της ελληνικής γλώσσας οι μαθητές έχουν τη δυνατότητα να κοινωνικοποιηθούν, να εργαστούν ομαδικά και ατομικά, να εκπροσωπήσουν τη χώρα και τον πολιτισμό τους, αλλά και να γνωρίσουν τον πολιτισμό της χώρας στην οποία διαμένουν, δηλαδή της Κύπρου. Τα παραπάνω θα τους επιτρέψουν να εξοικειωθούν με τις συνήθειες, την καθημερινότητα και ό,τι άλλο στοιχειοθετεί την ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό της κυπριακής κοινωνίας.

Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, το Παιδαγωγικό Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου σε συνεργασία με τη Διεύθυνση Δημοτικής Εκπαίδευσης, το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο CARDET και τη Συμβουλευτική Εταιρία INNOVADE ανακοινώνει την έναρξη του Προγράμματος Εκμάθησης Ελληνικών σε Ανήλικους Υπηκόους Τρίτων Χωρών (ΥΤΧ) με τίτλο «Γεια Χαρά!» το οποίο συγχρηματοδοτείται από το Ταμείο Ασύλου Μετανάστευσης και Ένταξης και την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία.

Τα μαθήματα θα προσφερθούν σε σχολεία της Πρωτοβάθμιας/Δευτεροβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης σε όλες τις επαρχίες της ελεύθερης Κύπρου και σε δύο γλωσσικά επίπεδα με συνολική διάρκεια 65 ωρών από τον Φεβρουάριο μέχρι τον Ιούνιο του 2017.

Τα μαθήματα θα προσφέρονται εντός των σχολείων που φοιτούν οι μαθητές αμέσως μετά την ολοκλήρωση της σχολικής ημέρας και θα συνδέονται άμεσα με τη διδακτέα ύλη. Απώτερος στόχος αποτελεί η ενίσχυση της ομαλής ένταξης των παιδιών ΥΤΧ στο σχολικό και ακαδημαϊκό περιβάλλον και στην κυπριακή κοινωνία γενικότερα. Τα παιδιά που θα ολοκληρώσουν με επιτυχία τα μαθήματα θα επιβραβεύονται με έναν υπολογιστή με οθόνη αφής (tablet).

ΑΚΟΛΟΥΘΕΙ ΜΕΤΑΦΡΑΣΗ ΣΤΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ

CARDET is organizing the Conference “Time for Change: Responsible Supply Chains in Cyprus” in collaboration with the NGO Future World Center and under the auspices of the Ministries of Education and Culture and Foreign Affairs.

The conference will be held in Classic Hotel on the 19th of January 2017 from 8:30 to 14:30 and it will focus on supply chains for metallic raw materials (gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum), tropical fruits (bananas and pineapples) and store brand products and their ingredients (cocoa and palm oil), as some of the more emblematic problematic examples of supply chains and global trade. Two international speakers from Global Witness (UK) and Global 2000 (AU) will present the European legislation and relevant guidelines and MP Dr. Charalambos Theopemptou will provide insides in terms of the local situation in Cyprus, and during the panel discussion and workshop the need for proactive measures and the need of civil society. The conference will be provided for free under the framework Time for change: Promoting sustainable consumption and production of raw materials in the context of EYD 2015 and beyond!

To CARDET οργανώνει το συνέδριο “Καιρός για Αλλαγή: Υπεύθυνες Παγκόσμιες Αλυσίδες Εφοδιασμού στην Κυπριακή πραγματικότητα” σε συνεργασία με τον ΜΚΟ Future World Center και υπό την αιγίδα των Υπουργείων Παιδείας και Εξωτερικών

Το συνέδριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο ξενοδοχείο Classic στις 19 Ιανουαρίου 2017 από τις 8:30 μέχρι τις 14:30 και θα επικεντρωθεί στις αλυσίδες εφοδιασμού μεταλλικών πρώτων υλών (χρυσός, αλουμίνιο, βωξίτης, κασσίτερος), τροπικών φρούτων (μπανάνες, ανανάς) και συστατικών διαφόρων προϊόντων κάτω από την επωνυμία των σουπερμάρκετ (κακάο, φοινικέλαιο), ως κάποια από τα πλέον προβληματικά παραδείγματα αλυσίδων εφοδιασμού του παγκόσμιου συστήματος εμπορίου. Δύο διεθνείς ομιλητές από τους οργανισμούς Global Witness (Η.Β.) και Global 2000 (Αυστρία) διερευνήσουν παγκόσμιες πρακτικές, Ευρωπαϊκές νομοθεσίες και σχετικές οδηγίες, και ο Δρ. Χαράλαμπος Θεοπέμπτου την κατάσταση που επικρατεί στην Κύπρο και κατά τη διάρκεια του διαλόγου την ανάγκη για έγκαιρα μέτρα και το ρόλο των οργανισμών της κοινωνίας των πολιτών. Το συνέδριο είναι δωρεάν, μέσω των δραστηριοτήτων του έργου Καιρός για Αλλαγή: Προωθώντας αειφόρες πρακτικές κατανάλωσης και παραγωγής πρώτων υλών στο πλαίσιο του EYD2015 και έπειτα!

ΑΚΟΛΟΥΘΕΙ ΜΕΤΑΦΡΑΣΗ ΣΤΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ

A fruitful teacher exchange visit took place between the 12th and 15th December 2016 in Senegal as part of EAThink, a 14-partner project co-funded by the European Union and coordinated in Cyprus by CARDET. An educational tutor from CARDET and a two-member delegation of Cypriot primary school teachers, Mr. Panagiotis Christodoulou from the Regional Primary School of Kouklia and Mr. Theophanis Hadjianastasiou from the Regional Primary School of Maroni-Psematismenos, joined an international group of teachers and tutors from Senegal, Croatia, France, Portugal, Romania and Italy in a 4-day exchange in Senegal on educational methods and experiential learning activities aiming at the promotion of sustainable development education in their schools.

The teachers had the opportunity to present their involvement and participation in the EAThink project, interact with their European and African colleagues and increase their knowledge on alternative production food systems in the developing countries. In special workshops, the participating teachers also presented Global Learning Modules which were pilot implemented in their schools, played the sustainable fishing team game which proved to be an effective teaching tool in engaging students at the French context and shared ideas on how to improve the communication and exchange among schools through the EAThink blog.

Furthermore, teachers benefited from visits in two secondary schools. They visited the CEM Scat Urbam in Dakar and the CEM Macodou Kanghe Sall in Kebemer, where they were informed about the schools’ history, staff, structure and challenges and briefly watched selected classes in English, French, Mathematics and Physics. In addition, the group visited the central micro-gardens of Dakar, a sustainable project for the local urban production of organic fruits and vegetables.

It is noteworthy that through the exchange visit in Senegal the European teachers better understood the complexity of African countries and had direct contacts with their peers in Senegal. Based on the EAThink experience, CARDET aspires to support the development efforts in Africa by facilitating the creation of sustainable educational partnerships or even twinning programmes between schools from Cyprus, Europe and Africa involving teachers and students as well.

Μια ιδιαίτερα εποικοδομητική επίσκεψη εκπαιδευτικών πραγματοποιήθηκε από τις 12 μέχρι τις 15 Δεκεμβρίου 2016 στη Σενεγάλη στο πλαίσιο του έργου EAThink, ενός έργου με 14 εταίρους που συγχρηματοδοτείται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και που στην Κύπρο συντονίζει το CARDET. Ένας εκπαιδευτής από το CARDET και διμελής αντιπροσωπεία Κύπριων εκπαιδευτικών πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, ο κ. Παναγιώτης Χριστοδούλου από το Περιφερειακό Δημοτικό Κουκλιών και ο κ. Θεοφάνης Χατζηαναστασίου από το Περιφερειακό Δημοτικό Μαρωνίου-Ψεματισμένου, συμμετείχαν στη διεθνή ομάδα εκπαιδευτικών από τη Σενεγάλη, την Κροατία, τη Γαλλία, την Πορτογαλία, τη Ρουμανία και την Ιταλία στην τετραήμερη εκπαιδευτική αποστολή στη Σενεγάλη όπου και έγιναν εργαστήρια για εκπαιδευτικές μεθόδους και βιωματικές μαθησιακές δραστηριότητες με μακροπρόθεσμο στόχο την προώθηση της εκπαίδευσης αειφόρου ανάπτυξης στα σχολεία.

Οι εκπαιδευτικοί είχαν την ευκαιρία να παρουσιάσουν τις δραστηριότητες του EAThink στις οποίες συμμετείχαν τα σχολεία τους, να αλληλεπιδράσουν με Ευρωπαίους και Αφρικανούς συναδέλφους τους και να μάθουν περισσότερα για τα εναλλακτικά συστήματα παραγωγής τροφίμων στις αναπτυσσόμενες χώρες. Σε ειδικά εργαστήρια, οι συμμετέχοντες εκπαιδευτικοί παρουσίασαν επίσης τις Ενότητες Παγκόσμιας Εκπαίδευσης που πιλοτικά εφάρμοσαν στα σχολεία τους, έπαιξαν το ομαδικό παιχνίδι για την αειφόρο αλιεία (που αποδείχθηκε ότι είναι ένα αποτελεσματικό εργαλείο διδασκαλίας στη Γαλλία) και αντάλλαξαν ιδέες για τη βελτίωση της επικοινωνίας και των ανταλλαγών μεταξύ των σχολείων μέσω του blog του EAThink.

Επιπλέον, οι εκπαιδευτικοί επωφελήθηκαν από επισκέψεις σε δύο σχολεία δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης: το σχολείο CEM Scat Urbam στο Ντακάρ και το CEM Macodou Kanghe Sall στο Kebemer, όπου ενημερώθηκαν για την ιστορία, το προσωπικό, τη δομή, τις προκλήσεις και τις επιτυχίες των σχολείων και παρακολούθησαν για λίγο μαθήματα στα Αγγλικά, Γαλλικά, Μαθηματικά και στη Φυσική. Επιπλέον, η ομάδα επισκέφθηκε τους κεντρικούς μικρο-κήπους του Ντακάρ, ένα βιώσιμο έργο για την τοπική αστική παραγωγή βιολογικών φρούτων και λαχανικών.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι μέσα από την επίσκεψη στη Σενεγάλη οι Ευρωπαίοι εκπαιδευτικοί κατανόησαν καλύτερα την πολυπλοκότητα των αφρικανικών χωρών και είχαν άμεσες επαφές με συναδέλφους τους στη Σενεγάλη. Βασιζόμενο στην εμπειρία από το EAThink, το CARDET φιλοδοξεί να στηρίξει τις προσπάθειες ανάπτυξης στην Αφρική διευκολύνοντας τη δημιουργία βιώσιμων εκπαιδευτικών συμπραξιών ή ακόμα και προγράμματα αδελφοποίησης μεταξύ εκπαιδευτικών και μαθητών από σχολεία της Κύπρου, της Ευρώπης και της Αφρικής.

Europe is experiencing one of the most significant influxes of migrants and refugees in its history. It is interesting to note that more than a million migrants and refugees crossed Europe in 2015. This migration is mostly forced due to civil wars or armed conflicts and it derives from the wish for a better and safer life. In this regard, the role of the host countries becomes crucial especially when it comes to finding lasting solutions for migrants and refugees in terms of their resettlement and integration to the host society. As education is considered indispensable to integration there is an increasing need to prepare all adult education providers (AEPs) in the most affected EU countries to initiate relevant programmes with the newly arrived migrants and refugees. For this purpose the project “DIGITAL INCLUSION” aims to produce and adopt a consolidated European OER for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in 6 languages, thus providing digital training for their skills’ improvement. Adult education trainers will also improve their competences by offering new ways of learning, as a result of the cooperation and exchange of experiences at international level. The specific objectives of the project are the following:

  • Strengthen the cooperation and networking between AEPs, research centres and public bodies from countries most affected by the refugees’ crisis.
  • Test and implement innovative practices in the field of education and training of specific target groups.
  • Better prepare and deploy the education and training of professionals for equity, diversity and inclusion challenges in the learning environment.
  • Promote the integration of refugees, asylum seekers and newly arrived migrants and raise awareness about the refugee crisis in Europe.
  • Encourage the utilization of Open Educational Resources (OER) to give access to education and digital training tools to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

Project Coordinator is the General Directorate of Social Services and Social Integration – Community of Madrid (Spain), developing the action in partnership with: Community of San Egidio (Spain), University of Nicosia (Cyprus), CARDET (Cyprus), Centre for European Constitutional Law (Greece), Association of Saint Andrew (Italy), Union of South-East Region Local Authorities (Bulgaria) and Hildburghäuser Bildungszentrum e.V. (Germany).

Evaluation environment for fostering intercultural mentoring tools and practices at school – E-EVALINTO

Early school leaving (ESL) is an obstacle to the socio-economic growth of the European countries. The main consequences could be unemployment and poverty but also social exclusion, poor health up to the most serious involvement in crime. Research has shown that young people with a migrant background are at risk of Early School Leaving (ESL). In this regard, tackling early school leaving is a stepping stone towards improving the opportunities of young people and for supporting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, as shown in the priorities for the EU 2020 strategy. In fact, one of the targets for the EU in 2020, related to education, is to reduce the rates of ESL below 10%. One of the factors leading to ESL is the lack of prevention and early intervention strategies, both at institutional and school levels, related to the need to develop effective methodologies and support for migrant students. For this purpose, the project E-EVALINTO will provide a prevention and early intervention strategy in order to reduce the gap between migrant and non-migrant students. The strategy will focus on the implementation of intercultural mentoring programmes and activities which will be supported by an ICT environment, composed by a set of tools and practices that will serve as a framework for evaluating intercultural issues within school contexts.

Based on these methodological principles, E-EVALINTO is intended to:

  • develop a prevention and early intervention strategy based on peer mentoring actions in order to reduce early school leaving in young students with migrant background;
  • develop an ICT framework for assessing, managing and developing activities for intercultural contexts.

E-EVALINTO is funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union and the consortium is composed of the following 6 partners: University of Salamanca-Coordinator (Spain), Oxfam Italia (Italy), University of Cadiz (Spain), University of Social Sciences (Poland), Dublin University (Ireland), CARDET (Cyprus).

FEFE – National Multiplier Event

Το FEFE είναι ένα πρόγραμμα εκπαίδευσης που επικεντρώνεται στην ανάπτυξη των οικονομικών δεξιοτήτων και της επιχειρηματικότητας. Στόχος, περισσότεροι εκπαιδευόμενοι να ενθαρρυνθούν να ξεκινήσουν τις δικές τους επιχειρήσεις και να τις καταστήσουν πιο αποτελεσματικές, ώστε να συμβάλλουν στην τοπική οικονομική ανάπτυξη και στη δημιουργία θέσεων εργασίας, ευρύτερα στην Ευρώπη. Στα πλαίσια της εκδήλωσης θα γίνει παρουσίαση του εκπαιδευτικού υλικού που έχει παραχθεί, εκ των οποίων ενός εξαιρετικά καινοτόμου ψηφιακού «σοβαρού παιχνιδιού». Η παρουσίαση θα έχει τη μορφή εκπαιδευτικού σεμιναρίου, όπου οι συμμετέχοντες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να το κατεβάσουν και να το δοκιμάσουν υπό την εποπτεία και καθοδήγηση των ίδιων των δημιουργών του, οι προέρχονται από το Aston University και τα Elearning studios.
