GLITTER – Strengthening Learners’ Digital Well-being Using Effective Teaching Practices and Digital Environments

The main goal of GLITTER initiative is to support evidence-informed policy at European level by developing and testing a whole school approach that brings several evidence-based tools and practices into a coherent whole to enhance digital well-being in and through school education.
The main goal will be achieved through the following specific objectives:
- Identify best practices and case studies conducted at International, European, national, and regional levels which champions digital wellbeing in schools;
- Define a whole school approach to digital wellbeing and practical instruments that can promote wellbeing in digital education environments;
- Pilot, test, evaluate and refine the GLITTER practical instruments and explore the effectiveness of a whole school approach to digital wellbeing in a range of different subjects and age groups in schools in four EU countries;
- Develop policy recommendations aimed at promoting a culture of digital wellbeing in and through education at primary, lower and upper secondary levels;
- Increase visibility of the project outcomes and maximize the impact of the project.
GLITTER will provide a better understanding of the concept of digital wellbeing in and through education at primary, lower and upper secondary levels with the aim of gaining evidence-based and contextual knowledge towards sustainable integration of research results into the school practices, teacher education and educational policy. It will design and pilot in 20 primary and secondary schools from 4 EU countries – Cyprus, Italy, Poland and Romania – practical instruments and practices for a digital wellbeing whole school approach aimed to pursue the wellbeing of children and young people in order to maximize their potential and self-realization and supporting their empowerment and safety in online environments.
