TINKER Multistakeholder Open Forum in Cyprus Addresses Priorities for Inclusive Informatics and Digital Education

On 26 October 2026, CARDET, the University of Nicosia and the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute organised the TINKER Multistakeholder Open Forum in Cyprus as an online event, bringing together 20 stakeholders from the education sector to discuss current priorities, challenges and opportunities in Informatics and digital education.

The event provided a structured platform for participants to exchange experiences, identify challenges and share examples of effective practice. Discussions explored the current state of Informatics and digital education in Cyprus, with particular attention to curriculum gaps, emerging educational needs, continuity between primary and secondary education, authentic learning approaches, and the support required by teachers and school leaders to strengthen inclusive Informatics education.

Key issues raised included the need for clearer progression of digital and Informatics skills across educational levels, greater teacher autonomy, access to adaptable teaching resources, continuous professional development, mentoring opportunities and more inclusive learning materials. Participants also reflected on their experience with TINKER implementation, highlighting students’ strong engagement when working with digital tools and the value of enabling teachers to adapt learning activities to the needs and contexts of their classrooms.

The discussions reinforced the importance of connecting classroom experiences with national education priorities and wider European efforts to promote inclusive, engaging and meaningful digital education. The insights gathered through the Open Forum will inform further discussions at the Cyprus Education Summit 2026, taking place on 6 November. The Summit will bring together education experts and project partners from Cyprus and other European countries to explore these themes and exchange perspectives at European level.

Through this initiative, TINKER continues to support dialogue among education stakeholders and contribute to the development of more inclusive and effective approaches to Informatics education.
