Short bio:

Hala Ghoussoub is an architect who followed her passion and became a tourism entrepreneur with a mission to create travel experiences that make a difference. In 2017, she co-founded Show Me Lebanon, a company dedicated to crafting tailor-made, immersive journeys that focus on sustainability and authentic cultural connections. What started in Lebanon grew into Show Me Journeys, expanding to offer meaningful experiences in multiple countries, including Cyprus. Hala is passionate about how travel can bring people together, create meaningful human connections, support local communities, and inspire positive change. Beyond her work in tourism, she is a dedicated volunteer, contributing more than 10 years to community development projects and youth leadership empowerment through her active involvement in international organizations both locally and globally.

 

Session Breakdown

1. Defining and Understanding Experiential Tourism

We’ll start by discussing what experiential tourism truly means, why it’s a game-changer for the travel industry, why it matters and how it works. This approach goes beyond traditional sightseeing, focusing on immersive and emotional connections that create lasting memories.

2. Designing Authentic Experiences

Next, we’ll dive into the key elements of designing experiences that feel truly authentic. We’ll discuss:

  • Identifying Unique Selling Points: Highlighting what makes your destination stand out.
  • Collaboration: Partnering with local artisans, farmers, and cultural experts.
  • Showcasing Local Culture & Heritage: Developing activities that reflect local traditions and the environment.
  • Creating Immersive Activities: Encouraging hands-on participation and deeper engagement.
  • Packaging Experiences: Offering themed and seasonal packages to cater to diverse interests and budgets.
  • The Power of Storytelling: Using narratives to make experiences more memorable and impactful.

Participants will come up with ideas that they could implement in their experiences.

3. Use of Digital Tools 

Finally, we’ll explore which digital tools can enhance guest engagement and make sustainable practices easier in both tours and accommodations. Key tools include but are not limited to:

  • Social Media: Building communities and encouraging user-generated content.
  • Virtual & Augmented Reality: Providing immersive previews of places.
  • Online Booking & Itinerary Management: Simplifying reservations and enhancing trip planning.
  • Digital Welcome Guides: Reducing paper waste while offering guests easy access to essential information.
