As highlighted in the latest video series by CONCORD Europe, the proposed EU long-term budget risks removing dedicated funding for civil society organisations — the very actors strengthening democracy, supporting vulnerable communities, and driving meaningful impact on the ground.

Ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council on Development (#FACDEVE) on 18 May, CARDET’s Head of Development, Nadia Karayianni calls for predictable, ring-fenced support to ensure civil society can continue its essential work.

Without civil society, European external action loses both effectiveness and legitimacy.
