The EU Presidency Project 5 (EUPP5) is a civil society-led initiative, funded by the European Commission, implemented during the EU Council Presidency Trio of Poland, Denmark, and Cyprus (October 2024 – September 2026).

Project aim
  • Promote inclusive and sustainable international partnerships
  • Empower civil society organisations (CSOs) across Europe and globally
  • Increase public and political awareness of the EU’s global role
  • Promote co-responsibility in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • Ensure EU and Member States engage in meaningful, co-responsible international cooperation

Key Events

Launch Conference to present the EUPP5 agenda and foster partnerships

The Launch Conference will mark the start of the Cyprus Presidency, presenting the EUPP5 agenda, key themes, objectives, and action plan to policy-makers, stakeholders, CSOs, and the media. Featuring thematic speeches, discussions, and a networking session, it will foster collaboration and partnerships with a focus on inclusion, sustainability, and an equitable future.

Capacity-Building Workshops on Civic Space and the Just Transition

CARDET will host capacity-building workshops for CSOs and key stakeholders in Cyprus, focusing on Civic Space and the Just Transition. The sessions will strengthen participants’ knowledge of EU policies and priorities while equipping them to design impactful actions, engage stakeholders, and support citizens effectively.
Estimated Timeframe: February 2026 – May 2026

Brussels Study Visits for Cypriot CSOs to engage with EU institutions

CARDET will organise two study visits to Brussels, enabling Cypriot CSOs to connect with EU institutions and partner organisations. These visits will enhance participants’ knowledge of EU policies and actions in Sustainable Development and International Cooperation.
Study Visit Dates: 2-4 February 2026 & 17–19 March 2026

Euro-Mediterranean CSO Conference for regional SDG collaboration

A two-day Euro-Mediterranean CSO Conference will bring together organisations from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East to advance collaboration on the 2030 Agenda. Focused on the Cyprus Presidency’s priorities—Civic Space, Global Climate Justice, and Financing the Future—the event will feature keynote speeches, expert presentations, thematic workshops, and networking sessions.

Open Dialogue Meetings

Open Dialogue Meetings and events will be organised to bring together CSOs, political representatives, and key stakeholders for dialogue on sustainable development. These consultations and roundtable discussions will promote the exchange of views and support the priorities of the Presidency Project.
Estimated Timeframe: December 2025 to July 2026

Key Initiatives

Small Grants Scheme to support CSO-led training and awareness initiatives

The Scheme, managed by CARDET, will be launched to empower CSOs in Cyprus to lead awareness-raising and capacity-building initiatives aligned with the Cypriot Presidency’s priorities. Will fund campaigns and training that engage stakeholders, policymakers, media, and the public to strengthen understanding and participation in development cooperation.

Policy Papers on digital democracy and green skills

Policy papers will explore key trends, challenges, and opportunities in digital democracy and green skills. They will provide structured recommendations to stakeholders and decision-makers at both national and European levels.
