Professional Development Seminars for Teachers Held During the 2026 Teachers’ Two-Day Event

Seven professional development seminars for teachers were successfully delivered as part of the annual Teachers’ Two-Day Event, held from 8 to 10 September 2026 across schools in Cyprus.

The seminars brought together teachers from different schools to explore practical approaches, tools and knowledge supporting their professional development and wellbeing. The activities focused on three key areas of contemporary education: collegial support and wellbeing, artificial intelligence literacy, and digital harmony and intergenerational learning.

Strengthening collegial support and teacher wellbeing

Through the Thriving Schools project, participants explored the importance of positive relationships, peer support and collaboration in creating healthy and supportive school environments. The sessions also introduced the PERMA model, focusing on the different dimensions of wellbeing and how these can contribute to a more positive school culture.

Building AI literacy for education

The AI Literacy and TINKER programmes provided teachers with opportunities to explore the educational potential of artificial intelligence tools and their application in the classroom. Alongside practical applications, the sessions addressed responsible AI use, ethical considerations and digital safety, supporting teachers in navigating the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies.

Promoting digital harmony and intergenerational learning

Through the Digital Harmony project, teachers examined how technology can support meaningful communication and connection between children, parents and grandparents. The sessions explored ways of using digital tools to strengthen intergenerational relationships and encourage more positive and purposeful engagement with technology.

The seminars were delivered by Elena Xeni and Chrysanthi Konstanti, with the support of the participating schools: Paphos 6th Primary School, Aradippou A’ Primary School, Athienou (KB) Primary School, Akaki, Palaiometocho and Kato Pyrgos Primary Schools, Trimithklini Regional Primary School, Lanitio Primary Schools (KA & KB), and Limassol 6th Primary School (Agios Nikolaos).
