EUPP5 Capacity Building Workshop: Exploring Digital Democracy and Civic Participation in the Nature

A successful EUPP5 workshop in Pera Oreinis engaged participants in discussions on digital democracy, advocacy, and policy-making processes. Through interactive activities in the nature, participants explored how digital tools can strengthen civic engagement and support more effective participation in public policy and democratic processes.

On 17 May, a workshop titled “Digital Democracy: Advocacy, Lobbying, and Policy-Making Processes in Cyprus” took place in Pera Oreinis, as part of the Capacity Building Workshop Series under the European project EU Presidency Project 5 (EUPP5). The session successfully concluded a dynamic learning journey focused on strengthening democratic participation in the digital era.

Hosted by CARDET, the workshop brought together participants committed to enhancing civic engagement and policy influence through digital tools and platforms.

Throughout the interactive session, participants explored how digital innovation is reshaping democratic processes, deepened their understanding of advocacy and lobbying, and examined the key stages of policy-making in Cyprus. Practical strategies were also shared to help civil society organisations engage more effectively with public policy in an increasingly digital environment.
