From 17–19 March 2026, CARDET participated in a series of high-level meetings and events in Brussels, engaging with key European civil society networks and policymakers at a critical time for civic space in Europe, within the framework of the EU Presidency project (EUPP5).
The three-day study visit included meetings with CONCORD Europe, Civil Society Europe, and Members of the European Parliament, fostering meaningful dialogue on shared priorities, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
Exchanges with MEPs Mr Georgios Georgiou, Mr Konstantinos Arvaniti, Mr Loucas Fourlas, and Mr Nikos Papandreou (S&D) provided valuable insights into current EU policy discussions and the role of civil society in shaping them.
Participation in the “Navigating Civic Space in an Age of Geopolitical and Social Upheaval” Conference, organised under the Civic Champions project, offered a platform for reflection and forward-looking dialogue on safeguarding and strengthening civic space across Europe.
These engagements further reinforced the importance of strong partnerships between civil society and EU institutions, while opening new avenues for cooperation and advocacy.
