The event featured Konstantinos Souroullas, PMP®, EU Project Manager III & QMS at CARDET, who introduced participants to the innovative European project DataGame. The initiative aims to raise awareness and strengthen skills in data protection, GDPR compliance, and personal information security through gamified learning methodologies.

Attended by librarians, academics, and members of the university community, the session highlighted the pivotal role these professionals play in promoting digital literacy, managing sensitive information, and fostering ethical information practices.

The programme included:

  • Introduction to the DataGame project, outlining its objectives and its role in enhancing understanding of data protection and GDPR principles.
  • Presentation of key results, featuring the educational DataGame itself, an overview of the developed learning tools, and their applications in education and awareness-raising contexts.
  • Interactive workshop on gamification and data protection, where participants had the opportunity to explore the game and experience firsthand how gamified approaches can support comprehension and retention of data protection principles.
  • Open discussion and exchange of good practices, encouraging dialogue among participants on effective ways to promote responsible digital citizenship within academic and library environments.

The event fostered valuable exchanges between the library and academic community, underlining the importance of continuous education and innovative learning tools in today’s data-driven world.
