Job Description

CARDET is interested in hiring a true leader who will provide guidance and shape the Education unit and the organization. The education is the largest unit of the organization with a large portfolio of projects and initiatives in more than 30 countries. The role of the Head of Unit is to develop and drive the strategy of the education unit in line with CARDET’s vision, mission, strategy and objectives. The Unit Head has full ownership of the unit’s performance and is responsible for the overall coordination of a number of resources and delivery of outputs and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with local and international partners and funding agencies
  • Contribute to the development of the strategy for development, growth and sustainability of the organization and its global network
  • Coordinate communication among the various stakeholders and support the project managers to ensure projects finish on time and within budget
  • Manage and coach researchers, project managers and office staff
  • Write proposals for local and international funding
  • Conduct staff evaluation and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Plan group project work and manage schedule, progress, and resources
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training workshops
  • Keep all members of the team up-to-date with current information

Head of Education Unit Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Master’s degree in an Education related field
  • PhD in relevant field
  • Project management qualification
  • Strong understanding and experience in the sector of Education (primary, secondary, higher education, VET, etc.), as demonstrated by specific achievements
  • Solid previous experience in the management of organizations, units, projects and or teams.
  • Proven track record of related work experience
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering education programs
  • Solid experience in the field of education
Skills and knowledge
  • Project management methodology
  • Demonstrable delivery of training and content development
  • A proven track record of successful project implementation
  • Experience in various project management methods and tools
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating teams and projects
  • The ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
Able to design and deliver training
